Rado, Alex (1899-1981) -Atlas fur Politik Wirtschaft Arbeiterbewegung; I der Imperialismus (1930) [Verlag fur Literatur und Politik; Wien/Brlin; p.168; 27/35 cm] cover. These are world and national conflcits depicted from a official Soviet Union standpoint, 75 years ago. Apart from the visual demagogy which inherently is part of each natioanl view on global affairs, one can see that several of the conflicts depicted here have continued to play a role in world history. It is also interesting to note that the "national question" which officialy had been solved by the Soviet Union (with Stalin as one of the big movers of whole populations) are still there and have even led to the falling apart of the former Czarist empire inherited by the state communists in the beginning of last century, so this nice big proud blots of red inkt are transformed again in complicated patterns of lines and hatches. tj.
